I'm looking for a way to increase my upload bandwidth. I have cable internet access now with 65 kBs right now. I was thinking about geting DSL, but I want to know if it works. I see advertized speeds very alot, and it dosn't look to me that they distinguish between kbs and kBs. Bytes and Bits. Anybody have info on this, or links to info?
    Thanks Mike

I have SBC DSL and I get anywhere from 300-500kbps up. The plan isn't listed on their site but it's $45/mo plan. I believe it's rated 6Mbps down / 1.5Mbps up.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

Your #'s bring up a point. 1.5Mbps rated up speed, but actual 300-500 kbps. That looks to be a big differance, to me. Is that normal? should I be looking for a drop off of that much from the advertized speed? Am I reading that right, thats about 1/3 of the advertized rate?

Ditto... I'm on Verizon too..... very decent speeds... and it doesn't suffer from the Comcast slowdows I've heard about that occur aftre 6:00pm.

  10. Well, I am jealous all around as I have Verizon ADSL as well. Due to older wiring in my apartment building I am limited to their 768/128 plan which only works out to 84kB/14kB after overhead. Still better than dial up though.
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space.
