Just got 100 of these yesterday.
Media ID: OPTODISCOR4.
Will post scans of DVDInfo Pro / KProbe / Nero CD-DVD Speed soon.
All discs burned on a NEC ND-3500AG, at 4x, Booktype: ROM, Firmware: Liggy's Beta 8.
Reason I bought them (normally stay away from anything but Taiyo, or Prodisc if I'm being cheap.) is because they are $24.80 for 100 atm at SMS.. Figured couldnt hurt to try 100 at that price..Heard they're trash, but what the heck.

These are actually playing very well..I'm surprised.
My NEC ND-3500 seems to like trash media, though... (It had problems with the 4x MCC's -R White Inkjet from Supermediastore, not sure why.)
Playback is flawless thus far, but only watched 2 movies all the way through, one on my PS2, the other on my Emerson generic walmart player.:star: :star: :star: :star:

DVD Speed - NEC
Obviously not the greatest discs..readback slows towards the end on this scan.
Will do another DVD Speed with my liteon, as my NEC dosnt seem like a fantastic reader. (It is decent, but seems to slow down towards the end on a majority of discs).

I bought 100 of the DVD-R discs and ended up with about 10% of them completely unplayable. I could hold the spindle up and see light between the discs in many places from disc warpage. I won't ever buy their discs again. 3 years back I bought a bunch of RAM discs for $10-$20 apiece, a good price back then, every one of them went bad after no more than 8 uses, so much for 100,000 times. I guess I had it coming on the DVD-Rs, buying from them again after getting burned on the RAMs.

I'm in no way saying everyone should use these discs and they're super great..I wont actually give a disc my approval until after several hundred / a couple orders.
These discs came in 4 spindles of 25, by the way.:star: :star: :star: :star:

Hmm...on second thoughts, maybe not..
Here's the krpobe of a disc burned at 8x...still playsback / reads back with no errors...but a bit spikey.

I will just say that I've bought Optodisc once, and that will be the last time I will. Worst discs I've ever used, by far. That includes Princo, AN31, other generic Sonic cheapos, all sorts of CMC. I bought both their DVD-Rs, DVD+RWs, and DVD-RWs on one order. ALL of the RW discs were UNREADABLE after the first burn, and they are not even recognized by my drives to this day. Pure crap. Transfer rate tests of all of my Optodisc DVD-Rs look 'grotesque' if you can use such a description for test results
. My princos and sonics put these to shame
. Glad to see they are working ok for you, though.

Heh. Just did the ultimate test on the 8x burns.
Playing them.
Results?
5seconds great play *skip skip skip* 5 seconds great play *skipskipskipskipskipskip* 2 seconds *SKIP*
Goes to show how much kprobe / CD speed really mean. 8x burns are all garbage on these discs.
4x burns are fine. No playback issues.

Used these all up finally.
Conclusion?
Trash. What a surprise.
I'd say maybe 80 good burns out of 100 discs.. Other 20 would skip near the end and/or totally freeze up. For the price...80 burns out of 100 is still cheaper...
But I cant sit through and flip through chapters of every DVD I make... Oiy.

This is encouraging.
My lite-on doesn't much like -R discs, but does well with +R. The first PI scan was excellent, all burned discs should be that good. The second was still acceptable. -

My NEC 2500 and 3500 will burn the 4x - Opto at 8x with OK results, but near flawless at 4x, the couple of extra minutes doesn't bother me. The 8x + Optos burn much better than both the 4x - and +. -
Disturbed - I only burned 2 at 8x sir.
I did not use them at 8x after viewing a movie burned at 8x.
Heh...but even at 4x, there was a high coaster %.
Also, I'm aware of media quality etc...I've been posting scans of all different types of media at different speeds lately..I'm not a newb that's shocked his $.22 media dosnt work. heh heh heh.

I did the DVD-Rs I bought in real time on the DR-M10 and had about 10% of them with bad spots throught the recording. I had to go back and play each disc all the way through on search to see if the recording came out or not, a time consuming process. I expect that I will have problems in the future with the ones that seem fine now. The worst discs I've ever used too, never again.

Guess i hadnt used them all up...(they came ni 4 spindles of 25 each)..
Burning these at 4x on my liteon instead of the NEC...Very good.
Play back fine, no skips/pixelations/pauses etc...
I'll post some scans in a few minutes...:star: :star: :star: :star:

I'm not fond of Optodisc after the junk I've experienced with their -R and -RW discs in the past. But I bought some spindles of Velocity brand discs and they turned out to be Optodisc OR8, 8x +R discs. These OR8 discs are actually quite good so I thought I'd give the 4x OR4 Optodiscs a try, considering I could get a 50 pack for $11, shipped. I've burned a few of these OR4 discs and they are excellent discs as well, I bought them off Chiefvalue.com for about $10.99 shipped - they seem to be in and out of stock. Here are some scans - note that with the Benq and Nero CD/DVD Speed that PO levels are not tested the same as Liteon drives, an 8 on a Benq is roughly equal to 2 on a Liteon, 4 on a Benq is a 1 on a Liteon, etc Given that, they test very good:
OR4, 4x on NEC 2500, Herrie's 1.07v2b5 FW, tested on Benq 822:
Transfer rate of above disc:
OR4, 8x on NEC 2500 - you can see where the Jitter levels increase at about 800mb when the burn speed increases above 4x:
The nice thing about the Benq drives is that they test Jitter. High Jitter can create an unrecognized or poor playing disc, even if the PI/PO numbers are low. Jitter of about 17% and above is getting into dangerous levels in my experience. About 20% and above Jitter and discs are often unrecognized, even if they have excellent PI/PO levels. Jitter levels high enough to cause playback issues seem to show up as poor transfer rate tests as well, so if you don't have Jitter testing a transfer rate test will still spot a problem disc.
Transfer rate of above disc:
OR4, 4x on Benq 822 B3LC:
Transfer rate of above disc:
These are solid discs, they burn about the same as the Optodisc OR8 discs and burn almost as well as my best media. -
I had some good OPTODISCR04 DVD+R recently that I got for free, burned perfectly on my Pioneer 109. Staples branded. Totally shocked.
That said, I'd still not recommend them.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
