  1. Hi,

I try to save some old (PAL) VHS-recordings via my TV-card, Pinnacle PC-TV-pro. The signal is taken direcly from the video (antenna). There is also a s-video input. The audio is separated in the TV-card and connected to my audio-card (SB audigy ZS).

The capturing, editing and compiling to DVD is done in Intervideo WinDVD creator v2.0. The capturing can be done in both MPEG and AVI as one file containing both audio and video.

Primarily, I am interested in reducing the noisy audio (typical VHS-noise in old videos, very disturbing). I have downloaded Audicity (not working properly for me) and GoldWave to test with. GoldWave extracts the audio-file and some improvements have been noticed while bandstopfiltering 7.5-15 kHz. This means that I have to paste the audio to the video in someway afterwards. (TMPGEnc maybe?)

•Is this the “normal” way when reducing audio noise? (cutting-editing-pasting audio)
•Is there a software that can do this better? Perhaps all the steps?
•Is there a hardware that can help filtering/reducing noise while capturing? It is only a little more noise (though a lot) in the capture than the original.

    Best regards
    Mathias, Sweden.
