    Hey there,

Just did my first "real" capture. Looks good, but my audio settings were off (input level was set way too high.) Clipping all over, too loud. What can I do? I have Sound Forge 7 w/ Noise Reduction & MPEG 1&2 plug-ins, the file is MPEG-1 . Thanks in advance...

Best option is to re-capture if that is possible.

Otherwise try the normalize function and for the option entitled, "If clipping occurs" try selecting, "apply dynamic compression"

    That might help.

  3. You can't really do anything about it, it's damaged, you can't undo it, at best you can reduce how noticeable it is, but probably not. Recapturing is the only way to fix this.

You could also try smooth/enhance under the Process menu. Ultimately though, it is like trying to fix a photograph taken with your thumb in front of the lens. You have to rebuild whats missing, or crop it out.

Thanks all... have found the "Recording Volume" adjustment for future attempts. Can't recap this on etho... was capping TV and have to wait for (eventual) rebroadcast. Turns out I capped at the wrong resolution as well... what should I use to re-encode the video to the proper dimensions?
