The newly remodeled PlayStation2 is a fairly new product and I couldn't find any info on it in the forum, nor the website.

I was interested in perchasing it, but one thing I want to use my PS2 for is multi-region DVD playing. I planned on purchasing this product:
    http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=41&products_id=1623&PHPSESSID=c34acda6b9e2c1...dd7bdc240556c8
Which is a region-free loading program, that allows DVDs of any region to be played, by using it as a boot disk.

Where the new PS2 is remodeled, I know its entirely possible and reasonable for the new model to have new security updates and such that might prevent a boot disk from working. I remember this happened with the Dreamcast, the second and third edition models did not support certain types of disks.

Anyone who knows or can suggest anything about this subject, or has used that region-free loader, please let me know how well it worked on either of the PS2s.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Why not try the Action Replay or GameShrk? Both of them have a region free function. You can buy them in any game store, ebgames, circuit city (perhaps) etc.

Well, I can/may do that. That's really not the point of the post. The point is asking wether or not the newly designed PS2 will even support those types of region-"hacks" (if you will). I mean, I IMAGINE the Gameshark and Action Replay will work anyway.

The reason I was looking at that peticular item at Liksang, is because I trust LikSang, because it's incredibly cheap (only 16 bucks), and because I have no need for a gameshark or action replay and the Liksang product is designed soley for my purpose of playing other-region DVDs.
