    Currently have Firmware 2.16

    Now I see the majority of media is 8x. Can I use this media in my drive although it is only a 4x burner

    Yes. Please check this list to see if Accesstek (Optorite) officially endorses a media as compatible.

    Note that media will still only burn at 4x even if it is rated 8x. I don't believe there are any Optorite hacked firmwares that let you raise the speed, and frankly I don't care.
