  1. I tend to use MF3 for basic DVD authoring and occasionally use it to capture analog video with my Hauppauge PVR USB2. When the DVD Highest Quality setting is used, it captures video at a bitrate of 10500, which is obviously a non-standard bitrate for a DVD. What this does is cause MF3 and other programs like TMPGENC to spend a great deal of time re-encoding the video. The next lower quality setting captures at 4000 or 7000 (cant remember which one) but that is not good enough for my purposes.

I attenpted to change the MPEG settings in MF3, but that did not do anything. I guess this is because those MPEG setting are for 'MPEG Converisons' and not captures as displayed in the program.

Is anyone aware of how to resolve this issue, and catpure at a manual setting and not one of those predefined ones?

    Thanks!

I have ver. 2 and not 3, but if it were me I would poke around in the registry and see if I could find the bitrate values (after backing it up, of course).

Well I don't have your capture device nor that version of Ulead

My first reaction is that I find it difficult that either your capture device or Ulead would use a pre-set configuration that is not standards compliant.

Atleast in earlier vers. of Ulead you were able to create your own custom settings and/or a "custom" setting from the plu-in interface with the capture device, depending on how it was interfaced

I suspect that you have done something to alter the capture settings from the default
