  1. Has anybody else seen this movie ? Its French with subs and possibly the hardest film I've ever sat through. I actually thought I was going to throw up at one point.

The first 30 minutes of the film has a background noise with a frequency of 28Hz (low frequency, almost inaudible), similar to the noise produced by an earthquake. In humans, it causes nausea, sickness and vertigo. It was the main cause of people walking out of the theaters during the first part of the film in places like Cannes and San Sebastian. In fact, it was added with the purpose of getting this reaction.

Similar to the almost inaudible background bee buzzing sound they added to the Exorcist.

I found this to be in a different league to the exorcist. It was a film I'll never want to watch again.

This is kinda reminiscent of A Clockwork Orange Or Woody Allen's "Orgasmatron"

The Blair Witch Project made me nauseous, and not just the bad acting.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

What are you talking about?? There were no ACTORS in Blair Witch -- it was all real. It was actual footage from a camera found after the students disappeared!! That's what made that movie so disturbing!!!

I had to laugh at that. At the time it was released, so many people believed it was actually real (I already knew). I have to admit though, that was some great marketing. I don't think it would have been nearly as well received if everyone already knew.

i have the original version in french - the subtitles are available also i'm sure ..

this film runs backwards you know, the credits are at the beginning even (partially printed backwards also) ...

it is a brutal movie .. should be watched back to back with 36 fillette, A Ma Soeur!, Ai No Corrida, Romance X, Gummo, Kids, Marquis de sade - Eugenie,
Ken Park and to wrap up the evening , either 'une vraie jeune fille' or 'Salo Or The 120 Days Of Sodom' (for a laugh) ..

Ai No Corrida blows away most of the others, i think it is still banned in many countries, though many of the Catherine Breillat films are pretty intersiting ...

if your tastes run to this genre or you want to explore a bit .....
