  1. Is there a piece of software that will allow me to copy my personal avi and mpeg files on my computer back to my digital video camera via firewire after I have created them in my video program?

I've been using Studio 8 but its been hanging a lot on me. Plus it has to render the file (again) before letting me record back to the camera which is very time consuming.

    Thanks so much!

  2. No matter what software you use for this it will have to 1st render to DV avi before it can be 1st transferred to the camera. I am not aware of any software that will render and upload on the fly.

For freeware DV transfer apps look at WinDV and DVIO.

  3. These would be perfect.... for my avi's anyway! However neither are working for me. DVio crashes everytime I hit Send Video to Camera and WinDV starts my camera recording but the video is not showing in preview nor on my mini dv screen.

Shame. Maybe you have a system problem.

A lot of people on this forum reccomend ScenalyzerLive for this kind of job. I have not tried it myslef but in your situation it might be worth a try. If this crashes/has problems then it looks more like a problem with your PC/software.

  5. Got ScenalyzerLive but can't see the option to put video back to tape. I'll keep working with the other 2 programs. I tried both of them on my new PC desktop, a new laptop and my older computer and they had the exact same problems on all 3. Could be my camera I guess. I'll figure it out. Those first 2 seem to be exacly what I want.

Thanks for your help and input!

I don't have that issue, but I read many times than miniDV cameras in Europe do not always let DV in, only out. Also, even when they do, it sometimes must be enabled in a menu.

    Hope that helps.

Thats tru, though less so than it used to be. But nanrector is in the US and anyway DVIO should not crash

  8. Heres the error I get. Odd that I would get it on 3 different machines.

Yes it is odd. I have never had any problems with it.

Do all 3 machines have the same version of windows and the same service Pack. Maybe DVIO has an issue with XP SP2 or something. I use XP with SP1 but have not installed SP2 yet.

  10. No I dont believe I've updated my newer machines. My older one has been updated though. On the WinDV should my specific camera be listed under Select Video Device? It just shows Microsoft DV Camera and VCR with no other choices. I don't have anything chosen under Leader and Append. Wasn't sure what those were for. Those I selected Preview.

  11. ScenalyzerLive is the way to go if you had problems with the freeware stuff. There is a little "tape" symbol to click for copying back to tape....

  12. I had to convert to DV Type 1 before it would work for me.

  13. Boy I can't seem to win for losing. I can only get the older version of Scenalyzer to work. When I open the newer version it says the zip file is corrupt. The older version does not have the "tape" symbol for me to copy back to tape. I'm trying to find another copy somewhere.
