I know that when it comes to encoding video, the faster the processor the better, but I was wondering, would you see a speed difference in your encoding times using a faster 15,000 or 10,000 RPM drive over a 7,200 RPM drive? Aslo will you see a speed difference using two drives for encoding, one for reading, and one for writing?

    Encoding is a CPU intensive process because of the math calculations being done. The HD upgrades will give you a boost but it may not be perceptible to you. More RAM would be a better investment.

  3. You are very unlikely to be able to output encoded video at 40-50MB/sec. Therefore, a faster hard drive will not be of much benefit to you. Invest in a faster CPU, or overclock your current one to gain a real speed boost.
