  2. Check to the left for DVD hacks and do a search for your DVD player make and model. A lot of players can be hacked pushing buttons on your player and remote to make them region free. Also there is soft ware that can make a disk region free.

if i'm not mistaken you could run the movie through dvd shrink using no compression. dvd shrink would then make it region free or you could use dvd decrypter too. anyone can correct me if i'm wrong about this.

  5. So I just open the files in DVD Decrypter and let it run?

If it's a PAL DVD and you are viewing on a NTSC machine you will get a warning even if it's region free. If I'm wrong please correct me.

  8. Yes, my Sony NTSC DVD player will not play any DVD's (even DVD's with no region code) if the video on the disk is PAL. It says it cannot play the disk.

Depends on the player. Some players actually do support PAL and NTSC, but most people never know it because of the region codes. Some NTSC players won't play PAL discs at all. You will not get a warning if your player supports both PAL and NTSC.
