  1. Just d/l xvid file, how do I convert it to either vcd or dvd. Tried nero, Tmpgenc, cucusoft, but can,t get it to recognise format so that I can encode. Can't get it to play in media player but will playwith Videolan player. I have the xvid codec installed on my system, and am running XP.No burning or encoding software that I have on my system recognises the format. Any help would be much appreciated.

  2. If possible, download Xilisoft Video Converter to try. I can import divx file using the program.

If it won't play in media player then it won't convert.

The codec isn't registered properly, or it isn't really an XVid, or something.

Download GSpot as Baldrick has suggested and see what codec it says the file uses.
