I'm hoping that someone can help me with a problem that i've been having. iI have an avi that has ac3 audio and Xvid video. The avi plays fine using media player, but when I go to extract the ac3 stream using virtualdubmod, the ac3 file is not playable. Infact, I can not get any program to read the stream. I tried using ac3fix (gui) and although it reads it fine, it detects no problems. I've tried using besliced, but I can not get the program to work ( I have no idea why).
Here's the kicker. I fed the ac3 file into Besweet and did an ac3 to ac3 recode, but the result sounds very choppy, like someone talking into a fan and your voice gets chopped.

Has anyone ever seen this? And, does anyone know why besliced does not work?

    thanks in advance

Sounds like AC3 VBR audio. Can you extract it to a WAV file with Vdub and does the result play OK? If so, you could re-encode it to a conventional AC3 file and that should work.

First question to solve this problem:
does any AC3 file play fine on your system? with other words -> your directshow filter set works correct?
Did you test your file with the VideoLan Player (which come with a own set of filters)?

    bye Daphy
