  1. Hello,

I've been using tmpgenc plus forever and I recently moved to tmpgenc xpress and while the interface is nice and lets you know how high a bitrate you can set to get the max amount out of your dvd. It doesn't encode properly for me and causes dvd lab to give me compile errors.

I went back to tmpgenc plus and everything runs like a champ. So I need a tool like xpress has for the bitrate and % wise of space I will be using.

    Anyone got any ideas?

This is the best BITRATE CALCULATOR that I know about:

    https://www.videohelp.com/calc

I use it all the time (and have for ages now it seems) because I use CINEMA CRAFT ENCODER which has no built-in bitrate calculator.

FitCD has alot more options, and if you buy it the full version does pretty much everything.

Welcome back, FulciLives. Actually CCE does have a built in calculator but you have to create the .vaf file first (run one pass). Then in the advanced options you can adjust the avg bitrate and it reports the exact filesize that will result.

I use FitCD when I need to figure out how to resize some "odd" format, like a DivX or Xvid etc. but I never used it as a bitrate calculator.

I did not know that but I get close enough to my target using the VIDEOHELP bitrate calculator.
