  1. I use the glossy DVD keepcase inserts sold on Meritline, and I use an HP Officejet k80 to print them on. The issue I'm having is that the ink never dries completely once the artwork is printed. This particularly happens on inserts with artwork that contain dark ink (black, navy, etc). Lighter colors (yellow, red, white (of course)) don't seem to be effected as much. The ink doesn't smear, but it's just wet enough to stick to the clear plastic sheath of the keepcase when inserted -- which distorts the view of the artwork.

I have tried various methods for getting the ink to dry such as putting it under a fan, using a blow-dryer, and actually putting it in the dryer -- all to no avail. I have tried just letting it dry on it's own, but -- believe it or not -- it took more than a whole month for the ink to completely dry!! Currently, I've resorted to spraying clear acrylic art sealer on them and this works fine, but I don't particularly care for being exposed to the fumes (I do this outside).

Has anyone else experienced this issue and maybe found another solution?

It is possible that the paper you are using is just not compatible with your printer ink.

I had experienced the same thing with my Epson R800 when printing on standard "Epson Glossy Photo Paper", Even after a few days, the ink would still rub off. I found an ink compatibility chart on the Epson site that basically confirmed that the UltraChrome inks are not compatible with that grade of paper (on compatible papers, I can run the print under hot water, dry it with a towel an not see any ill effects).

Try checking HP's site for ink/paper compatibility info. Maybe you just need to use a compatible glossy photo paper and cut it to the right size yourself.

this happens to me too - with hp paper in an hp 5550. changed the paper brand the problem is now gone. it's really just paper/ink compatability. there was a big discussion about it here about a week ago... search it up...
With all due respect... and there is respect...
