  1. I am converting a tv show source at 960x528, 23fps, 275kbps, 700mb xvid to dvd. I use the highest setting on tmpgenc, with wizard I select dvd, 2 pass vbr, and under adv I select very high motion search, and keep aspect ratio. it makes about a 1.7gb mpg, I work with ac3 for audio. When I play back the video, when there is alot of movement or when people walk around a little, the video jumps a little and isn't smooth. Is it my codec? do I need to configure my codec for best quality? What am I doing wrong?

  2. Your frame rate conversion is too low.....DVD standard is 29.97 fps for video. You are probably going to have to use the 2:3 pulldown option in TMPGENc to compensate.

  3. 2:3 or 3:2 pulldown you mean? I did that with one and still was choppy

  4. Not sure if your source is field based but I had a similar problem and found that I the wrong setting for the field order in TMPGenc (TFF or BFF)

  5. how do you determine field order? doesn't tmpgenc do that automatically?

    Try changing the field order.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  7. so on the wizard I should select interlace instead on non-interlace that shows up when I pick a file? then change field order?

tmpgenc does determine field order, but it can be wrong too.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  9. well, I converted a small section of the video on a and b, but still jumpy, could it be my codec? I think I have the latest version, is there a better codec to play xvid?
