  1. The religious aspects are a separate issue that I don't argue with, although I don't regard myself to be a Christian. I had plenty of positive Xmas experiences as a child, but I noticed that when I left elementary school for junior high (7th grade in those days), it didn't have the same feeling as before. I eventually attributed it to the fact that I wasn't in the same classroom all day long, and we didn't put up a tree or decorations, nor did we sing the songs (which I was never that fond of anyway).

I have nothing against taking the last week of the year off and maybe exchanging a few gifts, but the commercialization, as I've said before, really gets to me. I'd imagine it's different if one has kids, but I let other members of the family do that.

I spent a fall in Moscow in '93, returning on Dec. 21st. They follow the Orthodox calendar, which is 12 days later (if memory serves), plus they celebrate New Years Day. It was a shock to leave a place that didn't have all of the commercialization and return home for the final couple days of the Xmas season......

    Hello,

Believe it or not two of our local fm stations are already playing Christmas music!

    Yep they started on Friday.

I like listening to it but not usually until Thanksgiving when the temp dips more and its closer to the actual holiday....

The local radio stations usually start playing Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving. It's some kind of unspoken rule.

The noise... <shudder> .. the noise... I ******* hate the people that dress in red-and-white fur and ring the damned bell over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. We get the point. You want money. That's great. Quit with damned bell !!!!! There is no quiet. The volume in a store is too much. Music, people, etc. Too loud, worse than a mall on a Friday even. Like trying to shop at a rock concert or a football game. Then you get the ringy-dingy to and from your car in the parking lot. And then you have obnoxious stuff on the radio.

I agree with this, a week on the piss is good though. Fortunately I have to work this Christmas because some of the stockmarkets are open on the Monday and Tuesday as Christmas falls on the weekend.

I know that all of my team are away apart from me, so they will be paying me triple time or I won't come in. Three days of that should get me a nice plasma for the front room though 8)

  7. I don't like Christmas at all. Its a very depressing time, that's why I try to work as much as possible and just usually have Christmas Day and Boxing Day off.

Easter is MY holiday. Trust me, any holiday that is celebrated by the eating of chocolate is fine by me!

This is sad and greedy of big businesses using religion for profit.

Unfortunately, profit and money is all they think about and big businesses are getting more and greedier every year when Christmas comes.

They are selfish lot too and they don’t care.
