    Hello,

I saw awhile back a GENESIS cd without Phil Collins on it. Are they still together w/o PC??????

Also, What led to the breakup??? Was it all because of Phil's solo career???

What I wonder is why couldn't Phil Collins buy the rights to some of the songs and sing them at his concerts????

    Does Genesis tour anymore???

IMO...the BEST Genesis is the Peter Gabriel days.
They got way too soft and commercial after he left.

What I wonder is why couldn't Phil Collins buy the rights to some of the songs and sing them at his concerts????
He does and has been for several years.

Which ones???? I saw him in concert this past September and all of them were his solo songs. And his dvd concerts were all solo songs.

I stopped listening to them after he left. They weren't even the same band. I don't have much respect for Phil Collins. I realize a lot of people like him, but I consider him to be one of the most egregious sell-outs in the industry.

My cousin went to see him in Tampa - drove 80 miles, etc. He did 2 or 3 songs then walked off the stage and everyone had to leave, and get refunds. In my opinion if you can get out of bed then you should do the show, even if it's not your best effort. Most fans would rather see that than nothing at all. Or if he was so tired he should have called off the show entirely, and maybe people would get word and not have to make a trip for nothing....

Genesis was better without Gabriel....Gabriel is better without Genesis.
The singer who replaced Phil Collins on the Congo CD is(was) Ray Wilson. His solo stuff released later also contained Genesis material though the songs he chose to re-record (only live though)...were most likely written before he was even born...
The thought that PC has no rights to perform Genesis material is absurd to two reasons:
    1) He has more than enough material of his own.
    2) He also co-wrote 90% of Genesis' hits....they are his to perform as well. Look at the song Behind The Lines...it appears on Genesis Duke and Phil's Face Value releases.

    Sorry to hear about that......

But he's still one of the best performers out there in my opinion....

Hech54 - AWESOME! I saw him at the Palace of Auburn Hills in September, I thought it would take longer for the dvd release.

How much was it??? Which concert is it from????

    Kevin

--Is there a US release availble yet?--

I saw it on amazon. But it had different release dates... Is it on the street now here?????? It looks great! A Phil Collins DTS concert disc! I can't wait!

I'm in Europe....I heard your release date may have been pushed back further. There is a Genesis DVD coming out later in the year as well....It's going to be all of the Genesis videos.

And there is yet another one coming out with the Gabriel Era material....Peter just put that release date back again....for reasons he has yet to explain.

Phil Collins - solo, is a great performer and puts on a great show ... also when he played with robert plant ..

i just meant i liked older Genesis material -- lamb lies down on broadway for example (i saw this performed on stage - wow) ... acid trip oriented progressive album rock i call it (for certain reasons)

    you know ---

a party in which the play order would be something like this:

    five miles out
    Crime of the Century,
    Emerson Lake and Palmer
    Very 'Eavy Very 'Umble
Fragile or Tales from Topographic Oceans
    King Crimson
    Alpha Centauri
    Aphrodites Child
    John Barleycorn Must Die
    Led Zeppelin
The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
    dark side of the moon
    Meddle

and then at point i wouldn't remember much more for the next 24 hours that the partys would still run (or longer) - other than i could change an album still staying sitting (as i couldn't get up anyway) - and the turntable was across the room (really happened)...

those are great memories i think .... as from 72 to about 80 , is one big blur more or less ..

    Hello,

Hmm.... Me thinks there seems to be some anti americanism in him... All of his solo dvds are of European concerts?????

    Kevin

( Oh well, at least they sound awesome! It would have been cool to have my concert on the disc )

a lot of European concerts have better acoustics in the venue and are performed not quite as loud .. not always the case ...
many N.A concerts are in what is called sheds and rinks , both of which are not great acoustically ..

    Hello,

YES I KNOW! I'm reffering to the albums by the same name. (though is the Invisible Touch song on an album that isn't the same name????

    Kevin

BJ_M - Really??? I would have thought the acoustics over here would be more than adequate... Though maybe the older arenas aren't as good.

They designed the Lions Ford Field specifically for concerts. Bon Jovi played there and said it was perfect.

I think after the failure of "Calling All Stations", I think the band (minus Phil of course) decided to call it quits.

WHEN IS MIKE AND THE MECHANICS GOING ON A REUNION TOUR

Mike and the Mechanics opened for Phil here in Europe. IMAGINE how pissed I was when 2/3 of Genesis were there and NOT ONCE did Mike Rutherford come out with Phil during Phil's show to do anything. I actually lost 5€ to my wife that night...I was betting Mike would come back out during Phil's show.
Paul Carrack was singing (of course) for M&TH....since Paul Young is dead.
I met Paul Carrack and his band last year....super nice people.

Yes. Some of you might know that Phil Collins was in a '70s jazz-rock fusion band called Brand X. I believe there was a bit of overlap before he quit Brand X. He was on Unorthodox Behaviour for certain and perhaps also Moroccan Roll. Pretty good albums.

BJ_M: Aphrodite's Child? Yikes! You don't mean the album I'm thinking? You're making my hair stand on end like the first time I heard it. :P

Here are the dates that Mike And The Mechanics opened for Phil's Final Farewell Tour:
    5th June - Zurich Letzigrund *
    6th June - Munich Olympic Stadium *
    11th June - Berlin Waldbuhne *
12th June - Koln Rhein Energy Stadium *
    19th June - Amsterdam Arena *
    20th June - Werchter Classic - Belgium *
    21st June - Leipzig Stadium *
25th June - Nancy Zenith Open Air *
1st July - Barcelona Palau St Jordi *
    3rd July - Lisbon Restelo Stadium *

M&TM new CD is not that good unfortunately...and the DVD that goes with the CD is just plain DUMB. I thought it was going to be a concert DVD....WRONG.
Sorry about the delay on your release dates Yoda....that sucks. I really like this DVD so far. The extras are HILARIOUS....especially Phil with Henry Mancini and Phil with Dr. Dre rapping....hysterical...
