  1. i started to back up my movies (as SVCDs)...one of the movies i backed up to my HD was Space Cowboys...i now have a DVD Burner and now can burn it to disc (my GF gets mad waiting for the PC to be available - cause SVCDs take forever)...i found out that the VIDEO_TS.IFO file was needed, so i tried making a new one in IfoEdit....but still nothing in DVD Shrink...when i checked out the IFO in IfoEdit, it has VTS_01 and not VTS_03 anywhere...

...one problem is: my GF misplaced the disc (and a couple others ) when she borrowed it (we were not living together then)...

so how do i go about fixing this...or am i screwed...

I'm having trouble understanding a couple of things, so please bear with me

So you ripped the DVD to your hard drive. By the sounds of it, all you have is VTS_03_n.VOB files on your HD ? Please list the entire contents (full filenames) of the folder you ripped it to.

I think you may have either only copied the VOBs, or possibly the VOBs and a couple of IFOs. If this is the case and you only have the main title, it is pretty easy to fix. I'll wait for your response to the above question before I muddy the waters though.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. yeah, it did sound kinda confusing (did the post at work)...well, here are the files i copied (i used Smartripper)...and it wasn't VTS_03 , its VTS_02

    H:/Space Cowboys
    VTS_02.D2V
    VTS_02.IDX
    VTS_02.LST
    VTS_02_0.IFO
    VTS_02_1.VOB
    VTS_02_2.VOB
    VTS_02_3.VOB
    VTS_02_4.VOB
    VTS_02_5.VOB
    VTS_02_6.VOB

    OK, cool.

Re-rip all the files from your original, since you own it and all
    If in doubt, Google it.

Rename all of the VOBs to VTS_01_n.VOB, so instead of
    VTS_02_1.VOB
    VTS_02_2.VOB
    VTS_02_3.VOB
    VTS_02_4.VOB
    VTS_02_5.VOB
    VTS_02_6.VOB

    you now have
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB
    VTS_01_4.VOB
    VTS_01_5.VOB
    VTS_01_6.VOB

Then follow this guide. This will create VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.BUP, VTS_01_0.IFO & VTS_01_0.BUP for you, resulting in a playable movie. Load this into DVDShrink using the "Open File" button and you shouldn't have any problems.
    If in doubt, Google it.
