  1. Ugg, this is my first batch of my own recipe. It tastes really weak, but the alcohol level is good. I just drank a glass really fast and it gave me a nice buzz, but it need more hops and more body

How "brave" do home brewers get? Do some get fancy and try making a Wheat Beer like a Hefe-Weizen? Paulaner Hefe-Weizen and Dunkel(dark) Weizen are amazing beers.

You can make any kind you like. Personally I don't like wheat beer...

  6. Sainsbury's sell a raspberry wheat beer, that's pretty nice if you're after something different.

Still, I bet it will be satisfying when you get a Thayne Brew recipe that really hits the spot.

After my first trip to Germany....I came back home and tried alot of micro brewery versions of Wheat Beers. For some reason 99% felt the need to add some sort of fruit flavor to theirs and found them revolting. I actually found a place VERY near to where I used to work that had Paulaner Hefe-Weizen ON TAP....and even that place insisted on putting a lemon in the glass....IDIOTS.

I grew up on American beer....or should I say...every major brewery's idea of what beer is....all pilsner....and to me a pilsner is a pilsner. Bud, Strohs, Iron Shitty, Coors.....they're all the same and I guess I've just grown tired of them.

The most authentic Weizen in America is Penn Brewing from Pittsburgh believe it or not... If I couldn't find (or afford) imported Paulaner....I found Penn Weizen....those guys got it right.

Me too! I prefer a nice pale or amber ale any day! Luckily Ale is much easier to make than pilsner \

Just made batch #8, Hope it turns out better than #4 and #5!

I like lemon in my beer. Just a small piece, to float on top, give a sweet edge to a good beer. Dos Equis, Shiner Heifenwiesen (or however it's spelled).

    You like umbrellas too. :P

Just kidding, I like lime in a Corona but I couldn't see putting anything like that in a Beck's Dark.

I let batch #4 age a few more weeks and now it's pretty good! Still light tasting, but packs a wallop! Glad I didn't dump it

I also tried a Sam Adams dark wheat lager and I liked it! I may have to make some wheat beer afterall Avoid the Sam Adams Cranberry Lambric at all costs!
