  1. I'm having problems making a copy of a dvd in Toast 6.0.3. I have had only 1 successful attempt out of about 7.
    I have a:

    Machine Model: Power Mac G4
    CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (3.2)
    Number Of CPUs: 2
    CPU Speed: 1.25 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
L3 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
    Memory: 1.25 GB
    Bus Speed: 167 MHz

    For the burner :
    PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-105
    and a:
    TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R1312
    for the reader.

The disc (Aladdin) was originally ripped with MTR and then run through DVD2ONE. So I took the ripped DVD and tried to make a back-up of the back-up in Toast and about 3/4 the way through Toast freezes up. I then have to force quit Toast and restart my computer for the eject button to work.
The original ripped DVD plays perfect and has made 1 successful copy with Toast (with exactly the same steps used in all the attempts). So I have been trying to figure out how I can make this proccess more dependable (eventually the kid will scratch the back-up). Or is the best way just to save the VIDEO_TS folder from the ripped DVD to my hard drive and then make a DVD-ROM (UDF) disc in Toast? Just trying to cut out extra steps if possible.
    Thanks.

I find it most reliable to not do a direct disc-to-disc backup, as read errors will make a coaster. I use Toast in Copy mode, set the read drive to the one the DVD I want to copy is in, then go to the File menu, and choose 'Save as Disk Image'. This will save it as a Toast disk image on my HD. I then put Toast in Disk Image mode, drag the image to Toast's window, insert a blank, and record. Perfect success so far...
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."
