  1. Hello

I've been trying the latest version of windvd recorder 5 in the past few days but there's something I can't find and answer to a question.

If I'm receiving a TV signal in PAL I can only capture the video in PAL format.

The same goes if I adjust the software to NTSC. It only records in NTSC format.

If I use SECAM to watch then I can capture in PAL or NTSC.

According to some web sites and foruns WinDVR 3 and Windvd Recorder 4 can capture at any format you want. So you can watch in PAL and save in NTSC.

Why the latest version seem to have lost this ability?

Is try a feature of the trial version? Does the full version allows different format recording?

You have to capture to PAL and convert to NTSC after. I don't think the olders versions supported it...where does it say that?

  3. Ok, I got some versions and did some tests now.

WinDVR 3 => You can set the capture on PAL or NTSC and still capture on any format you want, without the need to convert them later.

So, you watch on PAL and capture on NTSC.

However this version gave me a green bar on the bottom of the capture screen.

WinDVD Recoder 4 => The same as WinDVR 3, but it works like a charm.

I can get the TV on PAL-M and save on NTSC with 720 x 480 res and 2750 bitrate.

WinDVD Recoder 5 => Looks like the ver. 4, but you can't select a diferent output from the capture.

So you watch it on PAL-M, you capture only in PAL. The capture option to switch the system is grey and not selectable.

However the ver. 5 I got is still a trial one.

This ability to watch in a system and save in another saves a lot of time in converting the file. With the ver. 4 and Video Re Do it's possible to record a TV show and remove the parts you don't want within minutes.

But I still don't understand why the latest version can't do what the older version could.
