I hope someone can help me with this question...
    Any ways,
I have a P3 system with a DVD ROM & CDRW, and now I am building a AMD system..

I bought a DVD-ROM AFFREY 16x Speed Drive for my AMD system (NO OTHER CD DRIVES), and It WOULD recognize the AFFREY DVD-ROM in BIOS, but DOESN'T show up in WINDOWS.... If I put a Recovery CD in the AFFREY DRIVE and start the computer up, it still shows in BIOS (like before), and then will start a Recovery process...... so after playing with the jumper pins and everything still the same problem... WILL NOT SHOW IN WINDOWS!!!

so now I took out my DVD-ROM out of my P3 system, and put it In my AMD system, and EVERYTHING worked just fine...

so then I took the AFFREY DVD ROM and put it in my P3 system with my CDRW still set as slave, and AFFREY set as master.... I start up the system, the BIOS shows BOTH drives, but in Windows BOTH CD DRIVES do not show now...
so then I took out the AFFREY DVD ROM, and have the CDRW as master.. the CDRW works in both BIOS and WINDOWS...
so then I took out the CDRW and put the AFFREY DVD ROM in... start up the system, EVERYTHING WORKS!!! IN BIOS AND WINDOWS!!!!!!!!!!! SO I THOUGHT I WAS HAPPY!!!
then I put the CDRW back in (JUMPER PINS SET TO SLAVE, AND CHANGED THE AFFREY PINS TO BE MASTER)
and still the same problem, they both show in BIOS, but in WINDOWS NOTHING!!!!
    so then...
I went to http://www.intel.com and downloaded the chipset... just in case.. and installed the chipset... (AFFREY DVD-ROM needs Intel chipset) and still nothing....
    now I am lost...
    so...

how do I get that #(*&% thing to work??!?!?!

    can anyone help!??!?!

    please

Err... Windows? There are several versions, which version are you running?
There is a much better place to ask for Windows help, the Windoze help-site.

I didnt mean that you shouldnt have posted this in Off Topic, I just think that you will have more luck with the Windows help site. You can search your problem and get back a list of likely causes.

    PS
Try going to Control Panel>System>Device Manager and look at the various parts that could affect your drives not being shown. Also look at the drivers for the devices, Windows may be able to tell you bit about the problem.
