  1. I've searched diligently through the other posts, and have found some relevant stuff, but none that exactly match..

I am trying to convert an .avi into a DVD that is playable on a consumer cheapo DVD player.

    I am using ffmpegX 0.0.9p, on a Mac G4 867 MHz running 10.3.5

The file I want to convert is (from the top line of ffmpegX):
    VIDEO: mpeg4, 416x320, 23.98 fps. AUDIO: mp3, 48000 Hz, stereo, 117 kb/s

I click the Quick Preset called "DVD mpeg2enc", and then uncheck the box in Options "Decode with Quicktime", per this thread (it didn't work at all until I did this step):
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=238039

When I encode that, I get an .img file that is mountable, and playable in DVD Player, except that the audio for the movie is on track 2.

So again per the previous thread listed above, I checked the "Set 3:2" box in Options, and tried again. This time I get the following error log:

    Can someone please help??

    Thanks in advance....

  2. I'm not sure I understand your question.

  3. Bottom line is that I cannot get the .avi converted to DVD with the audio on the first track, as it should be. When I tried the tip in the thread that I quoted, to set the 3:2 option, then the conversion failed.

What am I doing wrong, or what should I do differently to get the audio on the first track?

    Thanks

    That sounds pretty close to this;

You might want to try Sizzle to author the streams to DVD.

  5. Yeah, I saw that thread too - but I had no idea what all that stuff was about muxing, etc.., and so didn't know if it was relevant to what I was doing...

Thanks re: Sizzle, I may end up giving that a try in the end, though it would also be great to know if I was doing anything incorrectly in ffmpegX...

    Thx.

I've done this my selecting 'decode with mplayer' and then select the audio track upder the audio prefs. Some avi's have worked fine with audio on track 1, but a couple have had audio on track 0..

  7. Thanks Wibbler, I will give that a try.
