    Hi,
I've been looking for a program that can burn video files without having to re-encode them.
    I know this is possible.
I watched a DVD that had 12, 20 minute episodes of an anime.
I know that wouldn't be possible if the files were re-encoded to MPEG 2.
    I got TMPGEncDVDAuthor 1.5.20.62.
It burned a video file to DVD without any re-encoding but when I tried to play it I heard the audio but there wasn't any video.
    Any idea what's wrong?

    Thanks,
    Kelman3

That's where you're wrong. The amount of time that you can fit on a DVD depends on the bitrate that was used to create it. A DVD can be made using several different resolutions, the lower the resolution and the lower the bitrate required so the more the time you can fit on a disk.

A low resolution VCD quality DVD could have 8 hours, SVCD type quality about 4 hours and full DVD quality is usually 2 hours. These are rough guides only.

So you need to make the "video files" compatible with what your player can handle. If it's a DVD only player then you need to stick to the DVD specs, look up "what is DVD" on the left hand margin of this page.

Is there anyway I can calculate the bitrate I need so that the video fits on a DVD/VCD?
Or do I have to guess with trial and error?
Are there any programs that'll do this for me?

    I plan on using TMPGEnc.

If you use the project wizard in TMPGEnc then it has a calculator built-in, otherwise try this.
