I have a problem with dvd shrink. I am trying to backup a dual layer with dvd shrink. The file is fairly large and i have even tried to remove a lot of extras that i didn't care about on the back up but with the finished backup the picture looks a little bit "digital" it gets blocky at certain spots. (there are small blocks around different objects like people). I was shrinking to around 68%. I heard that an old version of dvd shrink might be better is there any truth to this. Or does anyone have any other solutions.

Why not use shrink to "re-author". This way you can just burn the main movie and there'll be much less compression used. If you must keep the extras that you were gonna burn in backup mode, you can go into deep analysis for a less blocky image.

Did you use deep analysis? aec? what setting? I ALWAYS do deep analysis if I compress at all, and at 68% compression, if you think it looks blocky, try compressing again with aec at 'smooth' or 'maximum smoothness' (I'd probably use 'smooth').

One question: how did you try to get rid of the extras? Did you use a tool that actually gets rid of the video (for example titlesetblanker) or simply bypasses it?

might want to get rid of the other audio you don't use...most has AC3 5.1 and DTS 5.1 picked...removing one helps alot (DTS more than AC3)
