When I cut my MPEG2 using Tmpgenc it works fine for a few
seconds of video. However doing longer cuts always end up
with A/V sync problems. So,What is the cheapest/free MPEG2 cutter that will not re-encode the movies when editing and
end up out of sync? btw,I capture directly to MPEG2 for home movies so AVI cutters are out of the question. I tried the Myflix XE demo and it worked, but it's limited on time so I can't get a longer cut to verify that it's really any better than the others. I know others have asked this similar question, but I've haven't found an answer that works for me yet.M2 Edit and such are way too expensive for just home movies. Thanks, this is a great site!

BBMPeg is the best SVCD cutter out there and the best part is it is FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is fast and accurate there is a guide on the left

BBMPeg is the only cutter I've found that does not cause A/V Sync problems with MPegs that have Open GOPS - which is usually the way TMPGEnc and CCE create them.
Unfortunately, it's only accurate to the nearest second, and you have to kind of guess.
What I do is tell it to cut the movie at the 790 MB mark (I use 80 min CDs), then look for a better spot to cut the movie somewhere just before the 790 MB mark and then cut it again. On the 2nd one, I do a 1 or 2 second overlap.
It's a bit of a pain, but never an A/V sync problem. -
O.K. I've tried BBMPeg and it still cuts with a sync problem. I don't know if this makes a difference, but I'm not cutting SVCD's. Just MPEG2 format. I have an SE version of Ulead studio and it cuts MPEG2 without A/V sync issues however, it drops frames and my end result is jerky. None of the others did that.
I'm at a loss. I need a cheap/free MPEG2 cutter that will not produce A/V sync problems. Thanks for all your help, but I'm still having the same issues.
Does someone make a utility to actually just cut from an original MPEG2, modifying the original instead of creating a new trimmed file? I really just need to cut a few secs of snow from my Hi8 captured home movies between takes. Help!
