If you have the original DVD, rip it with smartripper, do it as stream processing, and click demux to extra file, choose the 2 channel stream if there's one present. This should give you a large wav file that you can edit as necessary. If it only gives you an ac3 file, you will have to convert that file as well. I use a program called ac3tool that is freeware on this site, it onlt takes a few minutes depending on how large your file is. I use it mainly for concert DVD's so I can put the audio track on cd. If you need further help, there are many guides available also on this site or I can try to assist you furhter. Good luck

    Hello,

    Use besweet.

Also, download the companion besweet gui as it is a command line utility (the gui will give you a user interface your used to).

    Kevin

---Besweet can also convert directly to mp3 if you wish ---

    Good luck,

  10. Maybe Vobedit or Vobrator could do it? Never tried the tools myself.

  11. I know how to use DVD Shrink 3.1.7 to make unencrypted copies of DVDs and also know how to strip out the AC3 audio streams and edit and convert to WAV and MP3 if desired. My question - is there a way (without using a lengthy multi-step process) to use DVD Shrink 3.1.7 and create a 2 channel stream out of a 5.1 surround audio stream and then stuff the 2 channel stream back into the menu for re-authoring on DVD Shrink 3.1.7? I cannot figure out how to make a demuxed 2 ch stream available within DVD Shrink 3.1.7. I could use HeadAC3he to make the 2 ch from the 5.1 stream. Hopefully the audio delay will be remain intact so sync with video is ok. Does anyone know a way?

Use VirtualDub-MPEG2, load a VOB into it. Then go to Audio > Full Processing, then go to File > Save as WAV.

    Repeat.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    nope!
DVD Shrink is a transcoding tool, NOT a DVD authoring tool!
If you want to reauthor your demuxed WAV + MV2 use f.e. ifoedit (many guides arround )

But can you please explain, what´s the sense of decoding a 5.1 AC3 into 2.0 WAV for putting it back into the VOB container again?
You won´t save space, you won´t make a better quality, the only thing is -> it´s much work!

BTW: every 5.1 AC3 will be decoded and downsampeled to 2.0 (if necesary) by almost every DVD player in the world!

  17. My DVD player and TV make the surround sound track sound terrible and I have tried everything. I do not have surround sound system and the only DVDs I can listen to and understand the talk behind all the music is ones that contain a separaate Stero 2.0 track.

    plugged analog?
have you tested the cinch and the scart cables? (even scart gives you analog stereo output )

    else
I´ll guess your DVD is broken

  19. connections are fine. 2 ch sterro comes through fine when the DVD includes the track. With 5.1 surround on the DVD all of the dialog is drowned out by a very loud background and music track(s). So there must be something in the TV even though I have turned the surround sound filter off (in TV). I have also diddled with the Sony DVD player which includes and option for down muxing the surround - no luck there either. Some DVDs are so bad that you cannot hear the dialog to even understand it since the music is blaring. I will try infoedit and see if I can re-author my own DVDs in Studio and Nero with a converted stero audio track. I am not sure why some DVDs don't include a 2 ch stero stream??

if connected analog -> every DVD player downsamples the signal to 2.0; what about a scart connection between DVD and TV?

    bye Daphy

  21. maybe I should take the recently purchased Sony DVD player back - because the downsampling is a mess. There is no SCART output jack, only coax output for digital surround sound decoder, and component jacks for 2 ch audio and video. (also "S" video)

Oh...Ah.....about your doubts....there in the beginning....please download and use Besweet (search for tools and Besweet). Excellent program, learning curve is a little difficult BUT as soon as you learn it, you'll see how fast, easy and reliable it is. Use Besweet.

    BTW
I´d like to introduce my BeSweetInstaller, it includes almost all latestes versions (even those, which can´t be found at the DSPGuru´s homepage - see FAQs there)
Only thing what´s missing is the ac3enc.dll (I simply forgot it as I build this package ) and the continuous developed new GUI BeLight which also can be found in the latest version on my homepage :

    http://www.needfulthings.webhop.org

any suggestions are welcome (I will build a new thread as well)

    bye Daphy

PS: DSPGuru has personally allowed me to build this installer
