    OK, I have a .avi file and a corresponding .srt file which is the subtitles for the .avi file in question.

    I need to join the two but I am pretty new to this stuff.

    I use TMPGEnc to convert .avi to mpeg2 files and TMPGEnc DVD Author to burn the DVD.

    How do I get the .srt file subtitles joined to the .avi?

    Use dvd2svcd and have tmpgenc as the encoder for it,it supports srt files.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

    click on dvd2svcd and you should find a guide.
    or click on tmpgenc and you will find guide how to make permanent subtitles.
    or click EDIT here to the left and select How to add subtitles.
