  1. Hopefully someone can tell me how to edit my Sony created DVD files (recorded from TV) after I've copied them to my hard drive (which I've done.) All I want is some clips or short segments, to be retained on the hard drive (no burning back to CD or DVD required.) I've tried many programs, but all fail in one way or another (mostly they don't read these native files etc. let alone let you edit the files i.e. I can't even view play the titles from the hard drive files.)

After copying the files from the DVD onto the hard drive, two directories are created: Video_TS and Video_RM. In the RM folder are .bup, .ifo and .dat files and in the TS folder are .bup, .ifo and several .vob files. I can play these files using Intervideo WINDVD by opening the TS .ifo file (which starts playing mid film for some reason) but from there I can then open WINDVD's menu to get the title screen up and play a title from the beginning. WINDVD is great for capturing stills, but not clips (the gif files it can create are hopeless.) I've tried so many other programmes, converters, whatever. VideoRedo comes closest to working but for some reason, you never know where you are in it. The tracking bar doesn't keep track of its place in the program. Even taking a still means you aren't taking the still you think you are.

How can I get say a sixty second high quality segment from one of the titles? Is there a program to do it easily or am I being too optimistic. Surely it should be simple? Thanks.
