  1. Does any know of a way convert VCD's to Playstation? I know there is a Plug-n-Play deal that you can buy for it, but I'm looking to actually play VCD (or MPG/DAT) can play on my Playstation. Thanks.

Here's what I got and it works absolutely fine on no-name CDRs and CDRWs...I can play store VCD and homemade (x)VCD (1800 bit rate) as well. Mine came with a remote control for free with a promotion they were having. Try some of these:

Actually the filetype you need to convert to is called .str, not SRM.

You can't convert directly from mpg to str either, you first have to go to avi. Sorry I know there are several programs which can do the avi to str conversion but I can't remember what they are. Just try doing some web searches, or you could do a search in this forum, I know I've answered this before.

Anyway I strongly suggest you give up on doing this. Unless you have a game enhancer which lets you load files off the disk then you will have to do some simple programming so that the str file will autoplay.

str compression is horrible compared to mpg. A typical 2 cd vcd movie might take up to 5 or 6 cdrs when converted to str and the quality will be much worse also.

The psx is not designed to play str (or mpg files with the vcd addon)for hours at a time. You will undoubtedly be drastically lowering the life of your psx laser. After buying the vcd adapter for my psx the laser was completely broken after only a couple months.
