I use tmpgenc 2.52 to convet my xvid file to dvd format. Then i use tmpgenc dvd author to author the disk, i then use nero to burn the dvd on dvd-r or dvd+.The problem is i have 2 dvd players and the dvds only work on the _phillips dvd 633_ and not on my Awia xd-ax36.If i use mainconcept mpeg encoder the files are lots bigger than the files tmpgenc 2.52 creates and the quality is not as good but they work on both dvd players.Any ideas.Whats tmpgenc doing wrong or different.

Marginally crappy media perhaps? Some players are very sensitive to the media you use. It's partly because of the reflective layer of the disc, from what I understand of it which is very little.
You might have found a media that the Phillips likes and the Aiwa doesn't. -
Sounds like when you select LPCM audio it works, but the files are huge. So it's a compatibility issue. The other sound format is smaller but they don't play it.
What audio format are you using in the TMPGEnc setup for the output file? It should be AC3 or MP2. Those are compatible with all reasonably new DVD players. Only the very early NTSC players required LPCM audio for compatibility. -
