    I have an iMac G3 600Mhz and I can't get my external firewire 8x speed burner to burn at 8x without the buffer underun protection kicking in constantly. Max I can get is 6x....

    I have heard of some people successfully burning at 8x on a G3 iMac.

    The Lacie D2 will be able to burn dual layer and single layer discs upto 6x speed (maybe 8x) but I think you will have a problem using the drive to its full potential.
