I know I'll get hammered after this fact but the fact still remains. I've constantly stated that nero recode and Shrink latest version produces macroblocks throughout back ups, the picture quality is good, but then here comes the macroblocks when you least expect it. As stated in the lates comments for recode
[/quote]
Just tested it with LOTR-ROTK(my standard test movie for comparing DVD backup programs) and I'm very impressed. For movies requiring very little compression I normally use Shrink and for high compression DVD-Rebuilder. Less macroblocking than Shrink and in half the time. Far better result than DVD2One,CloneDVD2,DVD X,and IC8 at least on this movie. Testing a multi-angle movie now to see how it handles that. By the way I tested with main movie only and viewed it on a 32inch TV.

So, just to clarify, you disagree with whomever you quoted, because you believe Nero Recode & DVD Shrink (latest version) are equally deficient with regards to macroblocks?
P.S. Could you fix the quotation so as to identify the author/thread?If God had intended us not to masturbate he would've made our arms shorter.

The quote came from the comments section in nero recode, as far as quality I already know that Recode and shrink had macrblocking problems
https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=235960&highlight=jahrankin
This macrblocking problem was also noted on afterdawn after nero recode were tested.Live Life 2 The Fullest, Live The Life U Luv & Luv The Life U Live!

It was my comment based on testing with LOTR but as we all know other movies may have a different result. All of the "one-click" programs produce some macroblocking with this movie but I think Recode was possibly the best. I have tried DVD2SVCD,IC8,DVD2One,DVDX Platinum,CloneDVD2 and DVD-Rebuilder on LOTR. I'm sure I also tried an earlier version of Recode but was was unimpressed. I don't consider myself as one of the "I can't tell the difference from the original" people. I normally use DVD-Rebuilder and view on a 32inch TV. I'm prepared to spend some more time backing up some movies but for movies requiring little compression or are only going to viewed on a 29inch TV(seems to be the most common size purchased here in New Zealand) by my friends Recode may be a good option. Just finished a trial with Braveheart(171 minutes long)as I"m writing this. A quick look through the chapters shows some macroblocking visible but I doubt you would notice on a 29inch TV. I wasn't claiming Recode as the new God of backups but it does look very promising for those quick jobs.

As KiwiKid said these are not screenshots but short clips.
If you do not want to watch them on your PC simply burn them to disc.

I would disagree, dvd rebuilder possibly be better, but I have never got that damn package to work! Is there something special you have to do with a AMD chip to get that package to work? If you do, please post it!

steve2713, you party-pooper, I was hoping to win with "ba".
gf, have you had a look at the "official" DVD-RB support forums?

Jah_Rankin, you're fully untitled to your opinion.

Out out interest Jah_Rankin, what set up do you have for viewing your DVDs ?
If in doubt, Google it.

I have 2 projectors, one by infocus LP240 lcd projector dispalying at 1024x768 pixels 1100 lumens and the other is proxima LS540 SXGA LCD projector @ 800x600 pixels @ 1300 lumens, besides that I have a Akai 60 inch HDTV. Still does'nt change the fact that the transcoder in the latest shrink and recode leaves macroblocks in the pic quality, may be due to the speed of the transcoder as some have claimed the speed is improved in newer versions. I myself had problems with rebuilder that's why I dulged into dual layer burning with great success.

Jah_Rankin, if none of the new AEC options is selected, v3.2 will be as fast as v3.1.7, with a marginal gain in quality.
If an AEC option is selected, v3.2 will be noticeably slower at compression levels > 20% (or thereabout).
"Maximum Smoothness" is the slowest of them all, and will yeld a quality output favorably comparable to IC7/IC8 (as confirmed by numerous DVD Shrink beta-testers and users).

For the most part I've no problem with fuzziness @ all, fuzziness is one thing macro block is another. To add, yes my set up is high quality both audio and video.Live Life 2 The Fullest, Live The Life U Luv & Luv The Life U Live!
