Checks/EFT/debit take even longer to clear.
    Learn about banking policies.

Its still pointless bitching. Don't like them? Quit.
Go back to $5 per disc from a walk-in store if that's the service you demand.

  4. I dumped Netflix 2 weeks ago and I have no regrets. There 'delay shipping' tactics became unbearable. I live less than 20 minutes away from Netflix and if I dropped a DVD in the morning mail, they'd get there the same day. I know this because when ever I rented a newly released title, they'd report that they recieved that DVD that same evening!

Still, Netflix would hold on to available DVDs on average 2.5 days before they'd ship them. When they shipped them out, it was always in the late evening mail.

I live within walking distance from Blockbuster. I've been with them since October 18th on a $15 month/offer. To date, I've rented 44 movies. I typically rent 4 movies every day. BB have most of the titles in stock that I'm looking for, and when BB says unlimted rentals... they mean unlimited!

Using a BB retail store makes much better if you are in close proximity. Netflix plays too many games. Not with just their high usage subscribers, but according current Netflix Investor lawsuits, with their shareholders too!

    Death to Netflix!

They may have the titles listed but a lot of 'em aren't in stock.
Once you start putting them in your queue, you'll see a lot saying "coming soon" as well as "Long Wait", "Very Long Wait" or "Short Wait"...but even short wait can mean months.

I'm a member of both....Netflix is a faster service and has more titles.
You'll also have a much easier time getting new releases from Netflix than any other online rental outlet.

BB has a better selection of music titles and offers games (though I don't rent games) and a better selection of B-movies & Something Weird titles.
Maybe a few more special interest titles as well.

But a few of those are easier to rent from Walmart.

BB also gives you a choice of alternate editions of certain titles - along with an option for Full Screen/WS.
However, that doesn't always mean all those editions are in stock.

I noticed Netflix did some site remodeling and copied some of BB's site features/layouts.

If I was gonna settle for one though, it would be Netflix - I use the others just for the extras Netflix doesn't provide.

Available doesn't necessarily mean that it's available at your local distro, just SOME distro. Netflix sometimes will hold off sending it from a further distro if they feel your local distro might receive a copy and be able to send it out before you'd get it from somewhere else.

The BBV I work at (and most in this distcrict) have well over 3000. Also, they're going to increase the in stock count so more people can rent a title the week it comes out(most of the time everybody wants to watch it the same day). Like I said earlier, when you get your movies depends on how fast you can drive. No waiting around for the mail crap.

When I lived in Cleveland, I used to rent from Netflix during the free trial period..and while it was ok for that time, a few weeks later ive noticed that some titles I had in my quere didnt arrive in the mail when the others were returned.

Im glad i quit them when I did. Im not going to pay full retail for a video that never arrived. To be honest USPS is really a poor method for shipping DVD's, especially in packaging that can easily damage or break DVD's if not handled properly.

I don't hardly rent movies anymore; theres really nothing out there that catches my interest. Last time I rented a movie was like 5-6 years ago. My old BB membership card I had when I lived in TX is collecting dust...took it in to the BB up the street from me and found it was still valid. I guess even after several years of non-usage they still keep you in their records.

As LordSmurf mentioned, using a method of payment other than a credit card will take longer to process and usually its the banks delay.

    VTM

Nope...if you dont rent at the same place within 3 months, you're kicked out of the system. When they scanned your card they got a prompt saying "Would you like to add this member to you database (y/n)?". If you didnt have your card you would have to get a new membership.

On the weekends, no matter what it is, upto an hour at the most. On the weekdays, it depends. If it's a new release, they should be able to hold it for you until you come(unless its really in demand). If it's a hot new release, they can only hold it for a few hours. If it's a favorites rental, they can hold it for you until you come. If they say they cant hold it, ask to speak to the manager and explain to them that you were told on your last visit that they could hold it for you and now they're going back on their word. Problem solved.

The best day to get movies is on tuesday right when they come out before the crazy weekend customers come in.

Well the last time I used the card was when I lived in TX....now that I live in MI, apparently my membership info was there somewhere in the BB system or else it wouldnt have prompted them to add the member to the database. Even my sister is still on that card when they asked me if I still wanted to keep her on there . With it being a universal card though I can use it anywhere in the country where there's a BB; I would just have to be added to whatever store I went to.

Yes, I do! I'm a professional house sitter for a big time Hollywood celebrity! :P

I work out on a Elliptical Trainer or treadmill, and watch movies! That's pretty much all I do.

I also share my BB plan with slacker roommates.

u can blame it on usps all you want. yeah usps sucks. but the movies coming in the mail dont all the sudden slow down on a consistant basis. i had it happen to me. netflix is slowing down to save postage. thats my opinion anyways.

Exactly...after they add you to the databse, it says "checking universal databse" or something.
