Ok, yeah, I am a n00b to the whole process of creating VCDs and SVCDs.
Ok, after admitting that, I will go ahead and explain the situation:
I have a couple of movies that are not divx and, as such, not in avi form. I honestly don't know the extension to the files, however, I do know that I burned them to a CD and made it an SVCD. I used Nero StartSmart and it converted it and burned it and it played perfectly in my Apex AD-1130W.
The bad part is that it took nearly 3 hours to convert and burn - but that's that I guess.
After this newfound success, I attempted to burn a divx movie using the same process. However, because of the size difference in the files, I had to split the file in half. I don't recall what program I used, but it didn't work correctly. The audio wasn't in the converted file.
So first of all: I'll ask if it's even possible to convert Divx to SVCD and have a working file, whether it uses two discs or not.
Second off: I'll explain my system specs.
Dell
Intel Pentium 4 w/HT - 1.8gHz
512 MB Ram
Intel Integrated AGP Video Card
Intel Integrated Sound Card
24x max CDRW
I'm using Memorex blank CDs 700MB/80 mins.
I did have success in converting it with DVD2SVCD and extracting the audio and I have attempted to convert the seperate audio and video files with TMPGEnc (Or something close to that, I'm not on my computer). However, I have two room-mates and one of them continues to close it out whenever she gets on it. So, because of that I didn't get it accomplished either.
So, if someone would be willing to take the time (again, more than likely) to explain to me the process in which to do it if it is possible and what programs I will need to do it. I apologize for asking someone to explain the process because I'm sure people have gone over it many times.
I just haven't had any luck with it and haven't been able to complete it. And all the guides here say different things and different programs.
I appreciate it if anyone takes the time to help this n00b.

Look to the left and search for DVD2SVCD guides that use TMPGEnc.

Well thank you - I appreciate it.
The other day I just decided to try to burn a movie to an SVCD without any knowledge of the process or programs. So it was kinda hard for me to get started or to even know what to look for.
As I said, I appreciate it. Thank you.
