    Hi there,

I am trying to get a video player that is as universal as possible. I want to be able for the reciever of a CD to put it in the video auto launches and plays without the need of WMP or other software is this possible?

would it be possible to pack an AVI into an EXE so it launches right away from the CD?

I am open to all and any suggestions and ANY help would be greatly, grealy appreciated!!!

    thanks!!!

Not without any player. eMovix is your best bet, or include mediaplayer classic, and have it to run with the AVI as parameter.

  3. Your scheme hardly sounds universal since your exe file is not likely to play on Windows AND Linux AND MacOS, not to mention standalone players.

    Hello,

If you want it universal make a videocd and include a copy of a free vcd player with it. That way any computer will play the vcd and if you include the software they can install it themselves.

Though I think most media software like windows media player that is preinstalled will already play vcds.

    Thanks for your replies.

MoviX seems to be linux, I am pretty sure 99% of the people who will be getting this CD will have a windows OS installed.

mediaplayer classic looks like a good option, how do I inlcude it and make the video automaticaly play when CD is inserted.

    Thanks for all your help

Movix is Linux based, yes, but there are Windows tools for creating a eMovix disc. It will play on any PC regardless of OS since it comes with its own OS (a mini Linux) on the CD.
