  1. Hi,

I have a couple of videos for which there is no soundtrack available. I can capture the music, but there are voices in a couple of spots. Is there a way to either capture the music without the voice? Or, is there a way to edit out the voice? Is the voice recorded separately from the music?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,

Is the movie in 5.1 surround sound??? If so then you can use besweet to extract the 6 seperate channels and recreate just the music.

If it's stereo only it will be much harder. You could load it into a sound editor and TRY to remove the voices but chances are you'll just degrade the quality of the music.

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  3. Wow, talk about a quick reply!

I'm not sure about the sound. These are older movies ("Man With One Red Shoe", "Her Alibi"), and I'm at work so I can't check.

    Thanks!

PS - Coincidentally, I was just over at imdb looking at the Return Of The Jedi message board, Yoda313.

Both of those are older films, and probably didn't have more than stereo mixes to begin with. Even if they now have 5.1 mixes, you will probably find dialogue stretching across the front speakers as well as the centre channel.

If you have an audio editor that supports DirectX plugins, I would suggest Vocal Remover from AnalogX (freeware). Load up the front L/R channels and give it a whirl.
