how to join ac3 audio stream to xvid video ?

Hi

I am trying to convert an xvid + mp3 video source to xvid + ac3. So i used ffmpeggui(to extract an ac3 file from the source video) because i read some good reviews about it on this site. Worked ok so far in that i now have an ac3 file. Wondering what app i can use to join this ac3 file to the original video stream ??

Usually i use virtualdub for all my video editing needs but this is one situation it doesn't seem to be able to handle...

but why??? when you reconvert the mp3 to ac3 it will make it worse.

hmm, i didnt know it would make it worse..

The reason is that i am creating a dvd with dvd santa from the avi file. When i use santa with avi files that have pcm audio they never play back properly on my pc. When the source avi has an ac3 track there is no problem.

Although both types are fine on my standalone i thought i would improve the general compatability of my dvds but i didnt realise the sound quality would be effected..
