I have recently created a project, for the first time, using DVDAuthorGUI. When I try to play back the files on the computer, however, the picture is jerky and doesn't coincide with the audio. (Note: I am playing back the resulting video on PowerDVD 4, although I notice the same problem in ANY software, including Windows Media Player 10).

When I burn the files on to a DVD, however, it plays back beautifully on a standalone Sony DVD player. The DVD, however, is still jerky on the computer.

Before anyone asks, OTHER DVD's play fine on my computer (PowerDVD or Windows Media Player)...so what gives? Could it be a glitch in the codec? DVDAuthorGUI appears to be performing an admirable job once I have it on a DVD.

What are the specifications of the video/audio streams? (bitrates, resolutions, encoder used, etc)

Are you allowing the gui to multiplex them, or are they previously multiplexed into a vob?

The video streams are all encoded using TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 using both CBR (8 Mbps) and 2-pass VBR (2 - 8 Mbps, 6 Mbps average). Final resolution is 720 x 480.

Audio streams were created using ffmpeggui - Dolby Digital 2.0, using either 384 or 448 kbps.

I let DVDAuthorGUI multiplex the resulting elementary streams.[/b]

Im stumped. I use the same combination of software to create many projects, and haven't had any trouble. In tmpgenc, are you using 23.976 with 2:3 pulldown?, or are you encoding to 29.97fps? If I remember correctly, powerdvd uses a directshow filter chain, so you might want to reinstall powerdvd to ensure it is using cyberlink's decoders (and not some other 3rd party decoder)

Ok, I'll give that a shot. I do use 29.97 fps, so I'm not deviating from the NTSC standard.
