  1. yesterday I captured some old vhs tapes with belkin videobus using virtual dub. I could not set the size any greater than 320 X 240 for some reason, but other than that it was ok using huffy compression.

    But the following problem arose

    1. Could not capture to a greater size, is this a capture card problem and how do I get around it
    2. Did not get any audio for some reason.
    3. Did a burn to VCD but the quality was no where near the vhs quality.

I would appreciate if someone could give me some advice to the above, as I would like to transfer some VHS, but need the quality to be just as good to be worthwhile.

It's probably limited by the device, if that is the highest resolution you can select that's probably the best your going to get. Check the manufacturer's site for the latest drivers.

I did a quick search for your product if it's the original version there's a seperate audio input adapter that you have to plug into your soundcard. If you only have a s-video and a yellow RCA jack that is the version you have. You can purchase something similar at any nearly any electronics store.

At the very least you could create SVCD's which are better quality than VCD's but are not very compatible with a lot of standalone DVD players. Otherwise you need to create DVD's, I would also suggest getting a better capture device because as stated above the cpature resolution is probably limited by your device.
