How much mpeg 2 can you get on a 4.7 dvd with TMPENG 1.6 ? If I try to burn a dvd over 90 -93 minutes of material it goes into overload and will not burn the DVD. I am using a Plextor 708 and using Sony Dvd disks.
Is there something I'm missing ? Is mpeg 1 a costlier [ video quality ]
way of doing things.... 104 minutes on 2 DVD's seems a little silly ..Thankx a lot .....Any help is appreciated.

When an MPEG2 file is created, it's filesize is dictated by the bitrate during encoding and the length of the footage in terms of time.
So, a 1 hour movie encoded @ 4,000kbps will be the same filesize as a 30 min movie @ 8,000kbps etc.
Use the VideoHelp Bitrate Calculator to figure out what your bitrate should be for your encoding - don't forget to plug in the audio bitrate you're using.
Have a look at it in Advanced Mode - it'll give more of an insight into what's going on...

It's not the authoring program, it's the size of your mpegs that matters.
