    Hi nless00,

You need some way of connecting your PC to VCR. Does your capture card (or other card) have either S-Video (preferred) or Composite outputs?

The other way is to record to DV cam via firewire and then hook that into your VCR.

    Hi nless00,

S-Video is better quality than Composite so, yes, you'll lose some quality. As for whether it'll suck or nor - who knows?

I guess it depends on the quality of the source, the cables, the converter, the VCR etc. etc.

If it's cheap, give it a go - it may be OK.

You could even explain your situation to the guy there and they my allow you to take it back and get a refund / credit note.

Or you could get a VCR with S-Video in...

As for software / tools - I'm not sure on that. I'd guess that you just need to be playing the file on the PC and by virtue of tthe fact that the S-Video is connected it'll play out of the PC. But, I may be totally wrong...

If your mpeg is DVD compliant then you can make a DVD, play it on a DVD player and record that with your VCR. That assumes you have a DVD writer, which we don't know because you didn't fill in your computer details.

  7. The drivers for your graphics card should have the TV out settings. There should be a mode where whatever you play with Windows Media Player (or whatever player you use) goes to the TV output as well as the computer monitor. The name varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Look for something like Theater mode or DualHead DVD Max or somesuch.
