  1. Hello, I am trying to place several short movies from several dics of mine to one disc. Each movie has its own menu picture that is used for each choice (Play, Chapter Selection, etc). I would like to use these original images for the disc I am putting together.

But, for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to extract these menu items into separate images (or audio, too).

I thought that I new how, but I seem to be lost for how to go about this.

Thanks for any help you can give.

  2. Okay, not only did I figure out something I think I learned a little bit about menus, as well.

Using VobEdit, I demuxed the mpeg files that had the menu data. I then realized that the still pics that displayed the menu's were actually part of the mpeg file, as frames.

Since all I needed was a few frames I fired up the Tmpgenc free encoder and loaded up the m2v file, and used the "Output to file > Sequence to BMP", then aborted after the first few frames had passed (my images were in the front).

However for the other discs, the menu items were at the end of the m2v video file. Ack!! That means 1450 images of 1M each. Instead, this time I used Dvd Shrink to create a DVD that "only" had the menu items I needed in it. Saved this to my harddrive, and then used VobEdit to output the m2v files. These files were exceptionally small (45 meg if I remember), then used Tmpgenc free encoder to output the BMP's.

This worked well for me, but I wonder if anyone know of any easier ways?

After loading the file into TMPGEnc click on edit and go to the advanced tab and double click on "source range." Use the in and out points to set the interval of frames you need and then hit ok and then do "output to file->sequence to BMP."
