  1. I have an mkv file, and when I open it using mkvtoolnix there seems to be a track with the tag VOBSUB. As far as I can tell (by playing the file) that seems to be an idx/sub file.

I wanna know if there is a way to extract this, and/or if I can put this format in my own DVD-Rips.

  3. mkvextractgui just skips over the vobsub file saying it doesn't recognise it.

  4. Hi.
I have an mkv file too and I tried to convert it in avi format with mkvextractgui first like explain in this forum. The video and the sound were perfectly extracted, but the subtitles did not. I have the same problem as Monotone, mkvextractgui skips over the subtitle. It is said "warning: Unsupported CodecID 'S_VOBSUB'". I have also tried with VirtualDubMod but it failed to open the file : "Only handle [S_TEXT/] subs for the moment"!! So how can I extract this subtitle ?
    Thanks for your help.

Not sure that extracting VOBSubs is possible, from what I remember adding them is not a lossy process, unneeded data is stripped and the file is compressed with zlib or similar. Now uncompressing would not be an issue, however the stripped data I guess is.
