  1. Hi guys.

I'm in the process of re-editing our wedding vid for final authoring to DVD. Only problem is the DVD that was done at the resort in Antigua is NTSC, even though I implicity told the guy I needed it to be in PAL format as I want to edit in some footage from my DV camcorder which is also PAL.

Just wondering if anyone knows of a process to convert NTSC to PAL other than this one that I can't get to work

I've searched the forum and was hopeful since this thread there was a solution.

My DV cam is a Sony PC9E which has dv in/out so is it feasable to record directly into my cam from my Sony DAVS500 DVD player and if so how?

    I'm editing in Premiere Pro.

Great forum btw, I see lot's of help for Premiere Pro which is going to be cool for me

Thanks, I'll give it a go

  4. Well I gave the canopus procoder a go and didn't have much success with it. I tried converting the vob files from NTSC to PAL and kept getting "Procoder detected stalling in the conversion...." which stopped the process. So I tried converting them as mpeg, which worked but the play back in PAL was less than satisfactory, dropped frames, repeated frames and playback freezing... maybe my pc is just not powerful enough to use this tool

Anyway I found another way. I grabbed the video using Uleads DVD MovieFactory, started an PAL project in Uleads Media Studio Pro 7 then used the "convert" feature.

    Works like a charm

I've just tested the converted video with edited in video captured from my PAL DVcam in Premiere Pro, burnt a sample to DVD and everything looks sweet

Just thought I'd let you all know in case anyone else wants to do the same

Or you could just do nothing - most PAL DVD players can play NTSC without a problem so mixing formats shouldn't be a problem either, just so long as they are separate VOBs.

  8. Edit it in NTSC and author it. As rhegedus says, most UK players support NTSC just fine. On a PC, editing video will work regardless of the framerate.

Sorry, I just understood what you meant - you want to blend some NTSC and PAL clips together to make one clip, not just put separate clips together.

    Glad Ulead worked for you
