How long normally do dvd-r last? Like Taiyo Yudens, Verbatim and others just to get some comparrisons if you know any. Also What recommended write speeds would you use for a plextor 712A with taiyo yuden? or with verbatim?

I haven't bought any new media, I just wanna know the life and the speed recommended to burn at for my plextor before I do, thanks

You may want to post your question at the PLEXTOR FORUM at cdfreaks.com.

You'll get loads of information from there than in this forum. I have a Plextor 708A drive that will write a 4x DVD+R (RICOH) @ 8x speed.
