  1. so far I'm installing:

    AntiVirus
    Firefox
    Fax Program
    winzip
    winamp

Anything else you can think of, it's for a friend and she's not that good with computers.

Acrobat Reader, for dealing with PDFs on the web. It'll be slow, but then Acrobat Reader is still slow on systems 10x as fast so that's hardly a reason not to install it.

Something like MS PowerToys or X-Setup might let you adjust some things that slow the machine before you turn it over to your friend. I thought Windows 98 was a pig even at 800MHz.

Thanks for your info I'm not messing with it any more piece of crap.

It was a Itel Pentim Pro runs pretty good though for a 200 Mhz with 64 MB Ram and being a dell.

The P-Pro was the first x386 CPU with L2 cache running at the core CPU clock speed, IMSC. It was insanely fast for its day, and even faster with one of the server cache options like 512K or 1MB. I had an SMP machine with two of them running NT4. I was very happy with it

That 200 P-Pro would probably kick my little Libretto's ass, with its 233 Pentium MMX running Win98SE
