  1. I am using tmpgenc pro 2.51

I have a "normal" mpeg2 file (ntsc mpeg) that I want to convert to a variety of other mpegs mpeg1 and mpeg2 diff bit rates fps screen etc.

My problem is when I try to open an mpeg file as a source in tmpgenc it does not accept it.

is this an issue fixed in a later version?
I have look in variuous tool areas and not found it so far.

simply put, I want to do an mpeg-mpeg conversion using tmpgenc. does that exist - I know in the tool section it is listed but I can't see how to do it.

    Thanks

Open the file in virtualdub mpeg2 or virtualdubmod and frameserve to tmpgenc. Look in the guides for info on how to frameseve with virtualdub.

  3. Hi,you'll need this one:

    https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=MPEG2_Codec

    After installation go to

    "Option"-"Environmental Setting"-"VFAPI plug-in" and there you
    should see "MPEG-2 VIDEO Plug-In"

    That's all.

    Good Luck

  4. Thanks for the answers .. I tried the seocnd one to ensure that I have an mpeg2 plug-in ...

Firstly when I look at the plug-in section I see that I do have .....
"cyberlink mpeg2 decoder" listed as built in.
When I run the program you reccomended it does NOT add in another mpeg decoder.

Again when I try to open the mpeg I get "the file XXX can not open or unsupported"

    Any other suggestion.
    Thanks

  5. Does your "cyberlink mpeg2 decoder" have a priority of one in the VFAPI plugin section?
It doesn't matter who you vote for. The government always gets in.

  6. sorry to answer myself ....

although the codec you gave did NOT work I found that this one
    www.digvid.info/software/m2v_vfp.php

    has one that works.

    thanks for the lead ....

now I need to figure out how I can play with the params - when created a vcd file .. everything looks grayed out ..
