    Good morning everyone.

Although I haven't really done any real-world speed testings, but I'd
like to know which SW does quickest for when I'm in a hurry for AC3,
as I seem to be in, a lot these days.

    I have two questions:

Using my TRV22 / ADVC-100 devices for capturing my VHS movies with..

    * What or Which software app can extract the WAV from the captured DV
.. file, and export it to an AC3 file ??

    * I like my audio settings at 192k as a minimum standard for a DVD
    .. (vhs -to- dvd) project.

Now, perhaps speed is not a factor. I don't really know this, (if you
    read my first para above)

    * And, after creating my AC3 file, how can I play it, just to be sure
.. it has ben created (with sound) ??
.. I did try winamp, but it was silent. Anything freeware'ish ??

(I was thinking of re-coding my own gui for an AC3 import (since I lost
most of my delphi code snips I aquired over the years, due to a crash
some months ago) - but I've become a little lazy'er since that incident)

    My specs:
    .OS: Win98 Gold (not SE)
    CPU: XP-1800+ w/ 128mb ram
    VCR: JVC S-VHS HR-S3910U

    Thanks in advance guys,
    -vhelp

Install ac3 filter and you can play ac3 with any player.

ffmpeg is a fast ac3 encoder, you can use my ffmpeggui but it isn't 100% dvd compliant though.

    Thanks for the tip Baldrick

Actually, I am using your gui app :P

I was just wondering if there were something that did it faster, but that I and
others may not be aware of it.

I will try and burn an short DVD authored project (with AC3 audio) and post
back here if it worked or not. My test source is a widescreen VHS of the
movie, Star Trek Inserrection (IMO, was better than Nymisys) ..sorry
    for my spelling. Anyways.

Before I finish.. do you have a prefered area to post suggestions on this app of
    yours ??

    Thanks again,

TMPGEnc Sound Player is pretty good, although it's not free.
He's a liar and a murderer, and I say that with all due respect.
